Baby Boomers, Have You Ever Wondered What Is Bruxism? Its Causes And Its Symptoms?

Bruxism is not what one would call “a dangerous disorder.” But 20% of adults suffer jaw clenching. And teeth grinding causes permanent damage to your teeth, uncomfortable jaw pain, headaches, ear aches and possible spouse loss (smile).
There is a large percentage of people who are not even aware that they grind teeth at night. But I bet that if they sleep with anyone, THEY know. Below are some symptoms of bruxism. It will help you identify if you grind teeth at night.
What are the symptoms of Bruxism?
- Painful teeth in the morning
- You jaw hurts in the morning
- You feel pain around the upper jaw below the temples while eating.
- Your teeth are flat and worn away
- You have unexplained chips on your teeth
- Your teeth are sensitive to cold and citrus
- You have constant headaches
- You constantly wake up during the night
- You have ear aches
There are all different causes of Bruxism and theories do vary. These are the most agreed upon. Most think daily stress may be the trigger in many people. But each person is different!
What are some of the causes of Bruxism?
- How much stress you are under
- How long and tightly you clench and grind teeth
- Whether your teeth are misaligned
- Your posture
- Your ability to relax
- Your diet
- Your sleeping habits
So, now that you know a little bit more about teeth grinding. And you are a teeth grinder. What kind of teeth grinding treatment, are you going to choose?
Many might suggest you go to your Dentist and spend 3~5 hundred dollars on a dental night guard? Also called a night mouth guard. But NOT me. And I don’t think your Dentist is going to tell you NOT to get that 400 dollar tooth guard.
Sleeping pills…we all know they are addicting and dangerous!
But, you decide…Naturally or costly and/or pharmaceutically. It’s not a hard choice for this Baby Boomer!
