Salmonella Tomato Alert Update-McDonald’s says “NO”…

June 9, 2008

McDonald’s says it has stopped serving sliced tomatoes in its restaurants over concerns about Salmonella food poisoning linked to uncooked tomatoes.

Guess what Baby Boomers, today, Monday the 9th of May, the world’s largest hamburger chain has stopped serving sliced tomatoes on all of its sandwiches in the United States as a precaution until the source of the salmonella is known.

McDonald’s will however, continue to serve grape tomatoes in its salads because no problems have been linked to that variety.

The source of the tomatoes responsible for the illnesses in at least 16 states has not been pinpointed. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said at least 23 people have been hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported.

McDonald’s Manager and Mac give a “High Five” over McDonald’s decision.

These were identified because clinical laboratories in all states send Salmonella strains from ill persons to their State public health laboratory for characterization. Among the 73 persons who have been interviewed, illnesses began between April 16 and May 27, 2008. Patients range in age from 1 to 82 years; 49% are female.

Personally Baby Boomers, I am not a big fan of Micky D’s…ever since I found out that they preserve their chicken McNuggets with a chemical that they also make lighter fuel with…is this what they feed your children and grandchildren? Not at this house!
