Salmonella Alert-McDonald’s Tomato friendly again

June 16, 2008

Your friendly McDonald’s says it will begin serving sliced tomatoes again after a multi~state salmonella outbreak caused the world’s largest restaurant chain to yank the red vegetable, tomato, from its sandwiches, last Monday, May 9Th, 2008.

Baby Boomers, I doubt if any of you are suffering too much, but just in case it is a good sign that McDonald’s feels that it is safe to reinstate tomatoes in it’s menu. This will happen in the next 7~10 days.

Personally, I do not eat at McDonald’s…only their baked apple pies, touch these Baby Boomer Lips.

A McDonald’s spokeswoman said the chain will reintroduce sliced tomatoes in the next seven to 10 days.

McDonald’s spokeswoman, Danya Proud announced Saturday that the fast food chain’s U.S. restaurants, will reintroduce sliced tomatoes in the next seven to 10 days.

McDonald’s was among several restaurant chains and grocery stores that stopped serving sliced tomatoes last Monday as a precaution.

Federal authorities still haven’t pinpointed the source of the outbreak, but say parts of Florida and Mexico were supplying most of the nation’s tomatoes when the outbreak began in April.

The FDA has warned consumers against eating certain raw tomatoes: red plum, red Roma or round. Grape and cherry tomatoes or tomatoes still attached to the vine aren’t linked to the illnesses.

The Baby Boomer Queen will keep you alert of the “Killer Tomatoes.”
