Eating Broccoli Reduces Signs of Aging, the Risk of Heart Attacks and Fights Cancer

Baby Boomers, did you know that broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, radish and Brussels sprouts are known to be high in antioxidants and are known as cruciferous vegetables. Eating them increases your bodies production of several antioxidant proteins. Antioxidants are chemicals that remove free radicals from the body. Great tips for a healthy heart.
Studies are now being shown that eating cruciferous vegetables, especially broccoli, or increased consumption of these vegetables, triggers your body to naturally fight against the effects of aging, heart disease and cancer. A great way to maintain a healthy heart!
Broccoli when not over cooked, is known to contain a chemical called sulforaphane, which causes the body to produce heart protecting proteins. Isn’t nature grand!? You can get broccoli at the grocery store…And Baby Boomers, you don’t have to have a prescription for it. The side effects…? ZERO! No warnings that has to be written on the outside of it’s package, like pharmaceuticals!
Look for more tips for a healthy heart and I will be posting recipes for cruciferous vegetables. So, make sure you go to “recipes.”

Well this topic is right up my alley. We eat these veggies at least two or three times a week. Steaming is best. Add a little salt, pepper, oregano and top with a sprinkle of olive oil and parmesan cheese. esp. on broccoli. Actually if possible your diet should be at least 50% vegetables and fruit. This is not difficult. Raw and cooked are both good. How about taking some cauliflower, carrots, onions, broccoli and steam them together…Take the left over veggies and cut them up in a salad for the next day. Stop it Carol you are making me hungry! Veggies are my favorite. I could live with out meat until I smell BBQ. Being raised inthe South, it is comfort food for me. You can’t go down too many roads and not smell BBQ.
