Fast Food Avoidance is the Fast Way to Lose Weight

August 21, 2008

Fast Food Means Fast Fat Gain

Fast food restaurants are definitely one of the primary reasons that Americans are getting fatter than ever and it looks like the trend is continuing to grow. Some stats show that over 64% of Americans are overweight with nearly 27% being classified as obese. In Europe, the trend is not much better with close to 50% being overweight.

Most people know that a simple way to look at weight gain is eating more calories than you burn in a given day and eventually that helps in you gaining unwanted weight. Yes, it is a bit more involved than that simple explanation but it paints the picture. Therefore, a fast way to lose weight is to reverse that trend. You can eat less calories or burn more. In a perfect world, do both.

Drive-Thrus Are Dangerous to Your Health

Basically, a quick drive-thru to your local McDonald’s can result in a single meal of 1200-1800 calories depending on what you are eating and whether it’s super-sized or not. In other words, you can eat nearly your entire recommended allowance of calories and fat grams in one afternoon trip to Mickey D’s.

In case you heard all the stories about the Olympic swimmer, Michael Phelps eating upwards of 5000 calories in one sitting, all you need to do is swim for 5-6 hours a day like he does and you can probably eat that much too.

Obesity Causes Early Death

With the global expansion of American based fast food restaurants, you have to wonder if it’s just a matter of time before the rest of the world’s population is going to be just as fat. Obesity is a major epidemic and some experts say that it is the cause of close to 400,000 early deaths per year.

If you want to get healthier and are looking for a fast way to lose weight, one of the first things that you should consider is what you put into your body on a daily basis. If your diet consists of multiple trips to McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King, and KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken for the Boomers) every week, you are going to have some issues getting into that bikini that you love and you might have some major health risks on top of it.

Body Is Fat Burning Machine If Fed Properly

The human body is a very sophisticated machine and you have to feed it the right things for it to run smoothly. The fast food restaurants in America don’t care about your health. We should all know that by now. Eat smarter-lose more weight.

I’m tired of all the people in the world blaming fast food resteraunts for our nations obesity. The restraunts are not the problem. They get the bad wrap because it is fast, easy, and convenient. Something that obese people will be drawn to anyway.

Even though fast food restaurants have healthy choices…good luck..99% want the burgers and fries.. My solution for staying trim and healthy…plan those splurges and treat yourself once in a great while to something indulgent..Otherwise follow the rules and eat lots of fruit and veggies…
