A large scary asteroid about big as a NYC block came very close to Earth on Saturday. It was the latest in a series of visiting asteroids, including an asteroid the size of a bus that exploded over Russia, in February of 2013, which injured around 1,500 people.
The asteroid was only found six days ago, which would not have given earthlings very much time to prepare for the the 460-foot long (140-meter) Asteroid 2013 ET.
Asteroid 2013 ET came around 600,000 miles from Earth at 3:30 p.m. EST. Quickly doing the math, that is around 2-1/2 times as far as the moon—which is fairly close in the cosmic world.
