There Will Be NO MORE Twinkies-Ho Ho’s-Ding Dongs-Wonder Bread, because Hostess Brands—the maker of these iconic baked goods and goodies announced today that it is asking a federal bankruptcy court for permission to close its operations.
Why is Interstate Bakeries Inc and Hostess filing bankruptcy? Hostess is blaming a strike by bakers protesting a new contract imposed on them.
In an already hurting economy, closing Hostess Bakeries will result in almost 18,500 workers losing their jobs as the company shuts 33 bakeries and 565 distribution centers all over America.
CEO Gregory Rayburn released this statement, “We deeply regret the necessity of today’s decision, but we do not have the financial resources to weather an extended nationwide strike.”
What Baby Boomer has not eating Hostess product? We will miss those Twinkies an Ho Ho’s, and Ding Dongs—those of us that can still eat sugar.
