The Culture Wars In America-Should Religion and Government Be Bed Partners.

Politics has taken on many issues that should be kept in the church and many issues that should be political. But, should church and state be separate?

According to the government that was set up by our forefathers, YES!

Right now politicians are arguing over gay marriages, abortions, contraception and where prayer can and should be held.

Some of these issues are not the responsibility of the state and should be dealt with on an individual basis, or with you and your church, temple, or where ever it is that you go to practice your religion or beliefs.

The constitution starts off “We The People…” it does not read, “We The Catholic People,” We The Hare Krishna,” or “We the Christian People…”or any other religion.

The government that was set up by our forefathers, was set up to protect all of us. Not just the majority or any one group of interests. That being, the rich or the poor, black or white, green-blue-red-purple with stripes, or gay or not gay.

The GOP’s platform and the 2012 presidential political hopefuls are not addressing other issues like home security that need to be addressed. Protecting the American people from any county or group who wish to do us harm. Instead they are combining church and state and telling folks what is good and not good according to the church and their religious beliefs.

Religion and state make strange bedfellows and should not be intertwined. There are eight major religions in America and who is to say which one is right. Therefore church and state should be separate — if, for no other reason. Even though there are many reasons why church and state should not be intertwined.

Government is to protect and govern the masses. It is not left up to the Catholics, Mormons, Jews, Baptist or any other religious group of people to inflict their beliefs on the people of America.

Gay marriages, abortions, contraception and where prayer can and should be held and many other issues that are against some religious beliefs, should be fought in the churches, temples, other religious sanctuaries, or even in the home.
