Second Gulf Oil Platform Explodes

Off the coast of Louisiana the Second Gulf Oil Platform Explodes, but no lives are lost. All thirteen oil workers were saved with one injury.
An oil platform owned by Houston-based Mariner Energy exploded in the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday, September 2nd, 2010. The Coast Guard says it can see an on top oil sheen about a mile long and 100 feet wide.
Coast Guard rescue helicopters took the injured and survivors to the heliport of Terrebonne General Medical Center, in Houma, Louisiana.
The oil platform was located in a shallow waters compared to the Horizon Oil Rig, 340 feet verses 5000 feet. Crew might be able to crews use remote-operated vehicles access equipment on the sea floor to repair any leaks.
