More North Carolina Residents Flee Hurricane Earl

Update-Hurricane Earl Projected Path is still quite iffy but one thing for sure, tourists have already flown the coup from North Carolina’s Outer Banks, but Hurricane Earl is one of the biggest hurricanes to threaten the North Carolina coast in years and More North Carolina Residents Flee Hurricane Earl.
As always, there are always some seasoned coastal residents who will stay behind and weather the storm.
Hurricane Earl now has winds around 145 mph and North Carolina’s chain of barrier islands are buckling down the hatches.
Will Hurricane Earl also threaten the rest of the Northeastern coast or just bring hurricane-force winds and rains to Long Island, the Boston metropolitan area and Cape Cod?
According to National Hurricane Center spokesman Dennis Feltgen, “There is still concern that this track, the core of the storm, could shift a little farther to the west and have a very significant impact on the immediate coastline. Our present track keeps it off shore, but you never know.”
The National Hurricane Center in Miami issued a tropical storm warning early Thursday for the coast of Long Island in New York and a hurricane watch was issued for areas of Massachusetts. A hurricane warning was already in effect for the coast of North Carolina.
They are predicting that Hurricane Earl’s first encounter with the U.S. mainland should come around midnight Thursday, as Earl is fore-casted to hit just off Cape Hatteras, bringing wind gusts of up to 100 mph and several feet of storm surge both from the Atlantic, and the sounds to the west of the islands.
