Is Glenn Beck profiting from his “Restoring Honor” rally? Is Sarah Palin? Who Profits From The Restoring Honor Rally?
Saturday’s self-promotional, non-political, “Restoring Honor Rally,” at the Lincoln Center, will raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). The money raised will first be applied to the costs of the Restoring Honor Rally.” A SOWF official estimated the rally will cost $1 million. The rest of the money will go to SOWF, which says it provides scholarships to children of special operations soldiers killed in action or in training.
As Sarah Palin would say…“you betcha”….you can bet Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor Rally,” at the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday is devoted to honoring troops, but to the ego-maniac, Glenn Beck, the event is, indisputably, all about Glenn Beck.
Big Questions
* Can Glenn beck pass a mirror?
* Did Carrie Simon write “You’re so Vain,” about Glenn Beck?
* Can he stay away from a camera?
* Can Sarah Palin stay away from the lime light and a big fat check for showing up?
Speaking of people who can not stay away from cameras, mirrors and the media, Sarah Palin, is the featured speaker.
So, Beck and Palin will get their free self-promotion rally. I wonder how much of the million dollar cost of the Restoring Honor Rally monies, are going to Sarah Palin?
The gala event has been dubbed “Beckapalooza” by Politico.com, they state that it has already given Glenn Beck untold hours of free media coverage and who ever show up to the event, it is guaranteed to make Beck the center of attention for a few more media cycles next week.
For a man selling books, “Arguing With Idiots” and “The Plan,” which hits the book shelves September 14th, 2010, all of this free media is a valuable thing.
All the publicity that will come with the Rally, isn’t going to cost Beck one copper penny. That’s because it’s being organized as a fundraiser for a charity, the SOWF. Tea Party groups have also reportedly provided financial assistance for the rally.
Beck and Sarah Palin, his fellow featured speaker, will get their free self-promotion rally, and SOWF will get the rest. SOWF have reported that they have already raised $5 million.
The event was first billed as the unveiling of a new Beck book called “The Plan,” which would outline steps to take over the next 100 years to “restore our great country.” That was later ditched for a vague focus on restoring honor for soldiers.
Out of that a mole hill, has come a mountain. SOWF, being a non-profit organization can not hold the rally if it is “political.” We will see how that goes. I bet the IRS will be there listening. To the IRS, nonpolitical actually means nonpartisan…let’s see if that can stay out of the picture.
Beck commented Thursday on the rally: “This is a moment, quite honestly, that I think we reclaim the civil rights movement.”
BBAC wishes the best for SOWF. They are a good organization and do good humanitarian works. But, my Dad used to have a saying, “If you wallow with the pigs, you are likely to get slop on you.”

While working at WPGC, Beck met his first wife, Claire. The couple married and had two daughters, Mary and Hannah. Mary developed cerebral palsy as a result of a series of strokes at birth in 1988.
The couple divorced in 1994 amid Beck’s struggles with substance abuse. Along with being a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, Beck has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
By 1994, Beck was suicidal, and imagined shooting himself to the music of his fellow Washingtonian, Kurt Cobain.

Adolf Hitler
Billy Graham
Carl Sagan
Friedrich Nietzsche.
During this time, Beck’s Mormon friend and former radio partner Pat Gray argued in favor of the “comprehensive worldview” offered by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, an offer that Beck vehemently rejected until a few years later.

I am wife of a USAF Col. serving over in Iraq right now. My daughter is a Marine and I am a VA Nurse. So after reading your article I ask myself “what is wrong with this pathetic woman?) I was there at the rally. We raised over 5 million dollars. Brought people together from all faiths, cultures and races. I was there with a black family that insisted noone refers to them as African Americans because they are simply Americans. The park rangers said they the people attending were the most polite, organized group THEY HAD EVER HAD! Sfter leaving all estimated from aerial photos over half a MILLION people we left the park emmaculate. we prayed, sang, pledged to eachother a vow that someone obviously like you has never given to another. Many of us military. Many handicapped. Almost all had their children with them. Young men and woman standing, leaning, in trees on top of buildings coming together to return to GOD. whomever or whatever that may be. One more thing. At this even was the LARGEST RECORDING OF RELIOUS LEADERS EVER. The Smithsonian has requested any artifacts and memorabilia from the even. These priest, rabis, Native American tribal chiefs, African tribal elders and yes an IMAM along with Ms. Alveda KINg (Dr. Kings Niece) and Marcus Latrell a Navy seal whose friggin boots you couldn’t even biggin to clean. Your comments seem a little “I’m holier than thou” because my husband is in the military and you have family members serving. You are not unique. It’s nothing wrong with having your own opinion but you need to get one first. Stop running around the web regurgitating Glenn Beck nonsense that he puts in your mind. Glenn Beck fried his brain long ago smoking weed daily for more than a decade. He openly lied with his soft and weepy voice that he held the sacred constitution in his hands yet the national archives said only certified archive handlers can touch the document. Beck is a habitual liar and anyone who follows him blindly is suspect even if their spouse is a Colonel in the USAF. Stand up and think for yourself. When are people like you going to stop throwing up the obligatory black family that I know? It’s so dated and shows your lack of worldly knowledge. Glenn Beck called the President of the United States a racist on national television. Don’t claim military status if you follow someone who has such disrespect for the office of the President. That’s far more disgraceful than a blog post you don’t like. One last point, every time you blurt out the far from true fact that you and others don’t want healthcare from President Obama, be smart enough to know that there are millions of people who do want it and that’s why it’s so. My husband recently retired after 20 years in the military. My brother is in the Army and I grew up in the Air Force. I also spend more than 30 hours a week as a volunteer for a nonprofit organization advocating for military families. I’ve sacrificed plenty and Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin do not speak for me. Mrs. Stevens, you should think twice before plastering your husband’s name and rank on the internet with such hateful words. YOU should be ashamed of yourself.
I was disgusted by such a shameless, self-promotional Glenn Beck circus. Military does not equal conservative/Republican/Tea Party/whatever you want to call it and Glenn Beck’s ploy to wrap himself in the flag while promoting his own hateful agenda makes me sick.
I think SOWF is going to have a little problem maintaining their 501(c)(3) status after such an overtly partisan event. Something specifically prohibited by IRS regulations. I’m sure the IRS was listening.
