Will The Containment Dome Being Placed Over The Gulf Oil Spill Work or is it just going to be another failure to stop the 25,000 barrels a day (there are 42 gallons in a barrel of oil). BP Oil says that there are only 5,000 barrels of oil going into the Gulf of Mexico…but they are underestimating…and I say that in the kindest way, instead of calling them LAIRS.

This will be the LARGEST oil spill in Americas history and it is make by a British oil company.

What Is Going To Happen With The Placing Of The Dome?

According to BP CEO Tony Hayward, “It’s a technology first.”
* BP will use a remote controlled craft to start placing massive dome over the oil gushing wellhead
* Oil containment dome earlier lowered at site of massive leak in Gulf of Mexico
* BP Oil officials are optimistic that the dome will collect oil, which then be would sucked up to ships

The Gulf Oil Containment Dome is a four story structure and will be placed down 5,000 foot deep in the Gulf of Mexico, on the seafloor.

BP OIL states, “The move to try to cap oil leaking from the sunken Deepwater Horizon Rig started early Friday. This technique has never been tried at such a depth, and there are no guarantees it will work.

“It’s a technology first, it works in 300 to 400 feet of water. But the pressures and temperatures are very different here. So we cannot be confident that it will work.”

“The arduous process takes time.”

“We are proceeding with a lot of caution to make sure that we don’t make what was a clearly bad situation worse … that we don’t somehow do some damage to the pipe.” .

“So this needs to be done with a great deal of care and attention. … It should be settled on the seabed by the end of Friday afternoon.”

But by late Friday, BP stated it was still working to lower the Gulf Oil Containment Dome over the gushing well.
