Former NFL Star And Actor Merlin Olsen Dies at age 69. Many Baby Boomers might remember Merlin Olsen as Jonathan Garvey on “Little House on the Prairie” from 1977 to 1981.
Multi-talented, Olsen was a defensive lineman. He was inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1982.
Olsen also starred in “Father Murphy” on TV and was a spokesman for FTD.

Known as an intelligent, gentile giant, Merlin Olsen was 6′ 5″, he also graduated summa cum laude and Phi Kappa Phi from Utah State University in 1962 and earned a master’s degree in economics in the off seasons during his 15 year pro-career.
