Bob Dylan Paintings

Bob Dylan Paintings…perhaps there are a few Baby Boomer who took a double take on that headline. But, truth be known, he has all ways been an artist. There are so many forms of art. Bob Dylan is a poet, a writer, a social commentator, a painter and as most Baby Boomers know him…as a musician.
Dylan’s place as a Baby Boomer folk music icon has been secure for more years than I care to remember, but Bob Dylan has put another type of his artistic effort on exhibit to the public, his paintings.
The paintings are showing at The Halcyon Gallery, situated London’s uptown Mayfair district. Dylan’s new exhibition highlights Dylan’s acrylic on canvas paintings.
His paintings are based on sketches he made on the road between 1989 and 1992. The selections chosen for this exhibit show Dylan’s use of vibrant colors and bold brushstrokes.
The show, includes a series depicting train tracks, Sunflowers and Woman in Red Lion Pub.
“I just draw what’s interesting to me, and then I paint it. I’m not trying to make social comment or full fill somebody’s vision and I can find subject matter anywhere. I guess in some way that comes out of the folk world that I came up in,”stated Dylan.
According to gallery president Paul Green, “Dylan has definitely got a style of his own.”
The Bob Dylan Paintings exhibition opens Saturday, February 13th, 2010 and will continue to April 10th, 2010.
So here is what I decided to do…here is some Bob Dylan music to listen to while you look at a few of his paintings. I think you will be impressed.
