Richard Heene Reports To Jail For Balloon Boy Hoax at the detention center in Fort Collins, Colorado, on Monday January 11th, 2010.
Heene and his wife, Mayumi, both pleaded guilty to charges in “Balloon Boy” hoax, in November of 2009. The Heene’s both reported that their 6 year old son, Falcon Heene, was missing and probably drifting over Colorado in a balloon. The boys disappearance was to generate publicity to get a reality show.
Richard Heene Reports To Jail For Balloon Boy Hoax as he turned himself in Monday morning at the Larimer County Detention Center in Fort Collins, Colorado. He is serving time for a felony count of attempting to influence a public servant.
A Colorado judge sentenced Heene to spend 90 days in custody. He will spend 30 days and nights in jail but is eligible for work release during the last 60 days of his sentence. After his 90 day, he must serve four years on probation and complete 100 hours of community service each year.
Richard Heene’s wife, Mayumi, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of false reporting to authorities. She was sentenced to 20 days in jail, but her term will begin after her husband’s sentence ends so their children will be cared for.
