John Lennon Dead

John Lennon Dead 29 years today. A tragic day for Beatle enthusiasts and John Lennon lovers every where. Baby Boomers might not remember the actual day but they do remember the act that cut short one of our music icons.

Mark David Chapman shot John Lennon Dead in front of the Dakota, next to those courtyard gates on the night of December 8, 1980, as Lennon was returning to his home with his wife, Yoko Ono. Just an average man wanting to go home after a day of work…

They had spent the evening at a recording studio known as the Record Plant, working on a song called “Walking on Thin Ice.” As they neared the entrance to the Dakota just before 11 p.m., Chapman, who that same afternoon, at the same entrance, had asked for and received an autograph from Lennon, waited with a gun.

John Lennon would be pronounced dead at the St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. David Chapman did not give him a chance.

Words to Imagine

Here are the lyrics to “IMAGINE”…

***IMAGINE***

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

John Lennon Dead were words that I as a Baby Boomer never wanted to hear. For the full story, go to CNN News. IMAGINE if he had lived and was still alive today…
