First Windmill Home In Connecticut, in Avon, Connecticut. It is a house that will be powered by a windmill.

The 15-kilowatt turbine was manufactured by Proven Energy, Ltd. and is expected to provide 100 percent of the energy needed for the rebuilt house through net metering with Connecticut Light & Power.

Bernard Zahren, 66, is a Baby Boomer who is renovating his 70s-era home and replacing it with what he calls a 5,200 square foot “Sustainable McMansion.” In addition to the homes R-Value walls of 40, and a roof with the R-Value of 60.

First Windmill Home In Connecticut, will have a windmill that raises 115 feet to the tips of the blades.

Brernard Zahren, who recently sold his renewable energy producing company, stated that  the “Sustainable McMansion,” term means the home is sustainable, affordable and livable and he plans on writing a book about the concept..

When completed the home will yield a LEED Platinum rating from the U.S. Green Building Council.

First Windmill Home In Connecticut cost 1 million dollars in retaliations and has a beautify view from the top of the mountain.
