Sweden Burns Bunnies For Fuel and even though Sweden calls it Green Fuel, I call it Cruel Fuel.

The eradication squad has killed 6,000 of the furry critters, which are not native to Sweden. The rabbit kill started in 2006 and suddenly realized that they were going to have to get rid of the bodies. (DAHHHhhhh).

Then, around the same time, the European Union passed a law that makes it illegal to dispose of raw meat or carcasses in landfills, so their solution was “Sweden Burns Bunnies For Fuel“… to heat Swedish homes.

Bunnies for bio-fuel…yuck…poor Thumper.

Now I am not a meat eater…but surely there have to be people that are starving and the bunnies could be of better use. The whole thing just discusses me.

Bunnie rabbits are not the only animals that are being burned to heat Swedish homes…Reindeer, moose, horses, pigs and cows are all thrown into an incinerator run by a firm called Konvex near Lake Vanem, southeast of Stockholm.

They are using a new method that was developed with the help of E.U. funding, raw animal material is crushed, ground and then pumped into a boiler where it is burned together with wood chips, peat or other waste to produce heat. It is an efficient system as it solves the problem of dealing with animal waste and it provides heat.

“The main part of this fuel is coming from cows, pigs and moose. Rabbits are only a small part of the total volume. We take the raw animal material, mince it up into small pieces and add some formic acid. We then take the fuel and deliver it to the heating centers. One hundred thousand tons of raw material can generate enough heat for 11,000 homes a year,” states Leo Virta, the managing director of Konvex.
