100 Suspects Sought For Philippines Massacre which includes police officers.
At least 57 unarmed civilians were slain Monday, November 23rd. 2009, in southern Philippines, around Maguindanao.
Witnesses have implicated dozens of people in the election related massacre. One of them is Andal Ampatuan Jr., the mayor of Datu Unsay, son of the provincial governor of Maguindanao. He faces seven counts of murder.
100 Suspects Sought For Philippines Massacre and the authorities have just scraped the surface of those who are involved.
“There are an estimated 100 people that will brought to account for this incident. We are in the process of preparing cases against them and ultimately filing similar charges. These people are actually members of the police in the province and civilian volunteers in the province,” stated Philippine Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno.
Authorities believe that the exact number of those kidnapped and killed is still uncertain, as recovery is still underway and continued at the mass grave site.
