 Easy Southern Recipe for Cheese Biscuits Made Simple and Easy

There will be all kinds of breads served with Thanksgiving Dinner, and Parker Rolls are great…but in the South, you had better have some Biscuits or some Corn Bread!

Here is my very easy Southern Recipe for Cheese Biscuits. It has never failed me to get UMmmmm’s and Ahhhh’s.

Baby Boomer Queens’ Easy SOUTHERN Recipe for CHEESE BISCUITS

Ingredients:

* 2 cup self rising flour
* 1 teaspoon baking powder
* 1 teaspoon sugar
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/3 cup shortening
* 3/4 cup grated sharp Cheddar Cheese
* 1 cup buttermilk
* 1/4 stick butter, melted

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt together using a fork; cut in shortening until it resembles cornmeal.
  3. Add cheese.
  4. Stir in buttermilk all at 1 time just until blended.
  5. Do not over stir. Drop by tablespoonfuls, or use an ice cream scoop, onto a well greased baking sheet.
  6. Brush dough with melted butter.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.

Serve in a covered basket or bowl to keep warm, if they last that long.

Yield: 16-20 biscuits
