21 Dead In Philippines Massacre on Monday, November23rd. 2009.

An unconfirmed number of people were abducted Monday morning in the southern Philippines. At least 21 of them later killed, according to army officials .

The group contained local politicians and journalists.

The killings appeared to be linked to a political rivalry that flared ahead of 2010′s national elections.

The wife of a candidate for governor was on her way to file her husband’s nomination papers, when some 100 armed men abducted her and the others in Maguindanao province. Her husband was candidate, Ibrahim Mangudadatu.

21 Dead In Philippines Massacre and right now, the number of people abducted still remains unclear. Mangudadatu said he had a list of 36 people who were abducted, but a woman who was traveling with the convoy stated that as many as 65 people were in the group.

Army Lt. Col. Romeo Brawner stated that soldiers later recovered 21 bodies. 13 female bodies and eight male bodies. They were found in the area where the abduction took place.
