A recent study raises fresh concerns about Zetia and its kissing cousin, Vytorin. These drugs that are supposed to lower cholesterol, are still taken by millions of Americans to lower their cholesterol. But now, researchers have brought up issues as to how well they work and if they are in actuality, harmful, to a minority of users.
There are also users who are at risk for heart attacks that are taking these drugs.

In August of 2009, Merck and Schering-Plough Corp., its former partner in marketing Vytorin, agreed to pay $41.5 million to settle lawsuits claiming they delayed unfavorable study results on the drugs because they would hurt sales.
