Fort Hood Hero-Sgt. Kimberly Munley Doing Well and recuperating.
The civilian police officer Sgt. Munley hailed as the main heroine for ending the shooting spree at Fort Hood Army Post stated Wednesday, November 11th, 2009, that she was washing her patrol car just before the shooting took place.
Sgt. Munley was cleaning the car and topping off the gas tank, routine duties at the end of her shift, when she heard the report last Thursday, November 5th, 2009, that shots had been fired at Fort Hood.
Another police officer responded to the shooting spree. Police Senior Sgt. Mark Todd was directed to the Soldier Readiness Processing Center, where soldiers were preparing to deploy to Afghanistan and Iraq.
Neither police officer had a clue what they were going to face that day.
“The entire incident was very confusing and chaotic. There was many people outside pointing to the direction that this individual was apparently located, and as soon as I got out of my vehicle and ran up the hill was when things got pretty bad,” stated Sgt. Munley.
Sgt. Munley, who has been trained in active-response tactics, began exchanging fire with the alleged gunman, as soon as she was inside where, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a military psychiatrist, was.

Thirteen people, 12 soldiers and one civilian were fatally shot and killed.
Fort Hood Hero-Sgt. Kimberly Munley Doing Well and she is healing well from the three gunshot wounds. She was shot in both thighs and a knuckle, and still remains at Metroplex Adventist Hospital. She is in good condition and spirits.
When asked about her reactions, Muley stated, “The training does take over. In that particular incident, we didn’t have much time to think.”
“When I got shot, it felt like a muscle being torn out of my leg. I’m doing well,” she told Oprah in a remote interview.
“Every day is a progress for me, and things are getting better day by day. And emotionally, I’m just hoping that the rest of the officers and the injured and the families of the deceased are healing as well.”
Sgt.Munley’s first words where not about herself but others. Her first words after the shooting were, “Did anybody die?” She was a remarkable
The 34 year old mother of two never lost consciousness after being shot. She was a real trooper.
Police Senior Sgt. Mark Todd was also a hero. He stated that he fired his gun over and over as he’d been trained to do. Fortunately, he was not injured or worse, killed.
He has been a police officer for 25 years and, before that, he was in the Army. This was the first time he had been forced to fire his weapon while on the job. He was remarkable.
Sgt. Kimberly Munley is only 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 125 pounds, that was all it took to save lives. She is a real spitfire. Her, husband is in the Army.
