Ft. Hood HERO Police Officer Sgt. Kimberly Munley is still recovering after the horrific shootout at Fort Hood.

Long before the Fort Hood incident, Sgt. Kimberly Munley was known as a “tough cookie” and was nick-named Mighty Mouse.

“She’s the happiest, sweetest, most fun-loving girl you’d ever want to be friends with – and never want to cross,” close friend Drew Peterson stated Friday.

Munley, 34, mother of two, is tiny but tenacious and proved proved her bravery Thursday, November 5th, 2009, when Maj. Nidal Hasan went over the edge and started his bloody rampage at the Army base.

Sgt. Kimberly Munley tracked Maj. Hasan down outside a pre-deployment facility and unloaded on him at close range, only three minutes after his rampage started. She saved countless lives, at the risk of her own. Like a soldier, that is her job. To serve and protect.

Sgt. Kimberly Munley fired on Maj. Hasan twice and drew the attention towards her. He immediately spun around and charged her, She then fired a couple more rounds and fell back, continuing to fire.

Sgt. Kimberly Munley was hit in both legs and her wrist during the gun battle but stayed on her feet and kept firing at the charging gunman. One of the bullets hit an artery and she lost a lot of blood, but that did not stop her or her determination do do her job. Maybe the Army should recruit her…what a gal!

Munley shot him a couple times in the upper torso and he finally went down. He is still in a coma from his wounds.

“When she rounded that corner, she made a split second decision to put her life at risk. If she had not responded the way she had, we would have had an extremely high number of dead and injured,” stated Chuck Medley, director of emergency services at Fort Hood.

Police Officer Sgt. Kimberly Munley is a civilian cop employed by the Army and all that know her, her friends, family and colleagues, say that her heroism, bravery and her act of valor is who Police Officer Sgt. Kimberly Munley is all about.

A native of Carolina Beach, Mumley, where her father served as mayor, Munley became a cop in nearby Wrightsville Beach in 2000 and quickly forged a reputation as a cop who never shied away from a challenge.

Police Officer Sgt. Kimberly Munley has distinguished herself with her firearm skills and that is what saved the lives of many on Fort Hood.

After serving with the Wrightsville Beach force and at a local hospital, she decided to moved to Texas and enlisted in the Army in 2005. Sqt. Munley spent two years as a chemical operations specialist before becoming a civilian cop assigned to Fort Hood.

    This tinny woman saved lives by putting herself in harms way she deserves a lot of awards for what she did for all the innocent men and women that were there to save and protect all of us overseas and that is a fact.

    MAY GOD BLESS HER AND HER ENTIRE FAMILY NOW AND FOR ALL TIME AS I AM SURE HE WILL!!!
