Las Vegas Underground

las vegas sign Las Vegas Underground

Las Vegas Underground is a whole side of Las Vegas that many do not know about. Beneath the glitz and glamor, where money is squandered like there is no tomorrow, there beats a community like most large cities.

Las Vegas Underground is made up of water tunnels that go 300 miles under Las Vegas. Those that live there call it the bat caves. Those that live there call it home.

Some how it seems wrong to call those that live in the Las Vegas Underground, homeless, because that is their home. They have made a life that many would consider unbearable, yet they have the strength to carry on.

There is still another life in Las Vegas Underground and for more than twenty years graffiti writers from Las Vegas and beyond have been venturing almost a mile into the dark and dank storm drains under the Las Vegas Strip to spray paint extravagant murals and quick scribbles in what has become Las Vegas’ most intriguing art gallery.

Some call Las Vegas Underground, “The Tunnel of Fame.”

An unpredictable world lights up the tunnels and makes it a very unusual art gallery. Most paint by flash lights, carrying the occasional street grates, these graffiti writers find the fame by each other. For some, there is the unknown of the storm drains, but to these artist, there is always a new wall to pain or cover over.
