Somer Thompson’s Body Found In Georgia Landfill, near Folkston, Georgia, 55 miles north of where little Somer became separated from her schoolmates, on her way home from school in Orange Park, Florida on Monday, October 19th, 2009.

Somer Thompson, only 7 years old, went missing Monday, on her way home from school. There will be one less child to celebrate Halloween this year. If I had a child in the Orange Park or Jacksonville area, I would not be letting my children out on the streets alone until this real monster is caught.

Deina Thompson is the mother of Somer Thompson and her pain is very real. Clutching a tissue in her right hand, frequently wiping her eyes as she told reporters, “I can’t believe it is my daughter whose body was found in a Georgia landfill.”

Outside her home in Orange Park, Florida, Thompson looked into the camera and, with her voice cracking, sent out this warning to her daughter’s killer.

“I want you to know that I will not sleep until this person is found. I hope they get you and I hope they make you pay for a long, long time. You don’t take from somebody. You didn’t just take her from me. You took her from my family, you took her from all these people. And you don’t do this to a little baby and put my baby in the trash like she’s nothing. That’s not OK, this is not OK.”

John Bankhead of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation told CNN the state medical examiner will officially determine whether the body belongs to Somer, She was identified by her clothes and a birth mark.

Somer Thompson’s Body Found In Georgia Landfill after she disappeared earlier this week and her little body was discovered on Thursday, October 22nd, 2009. Her autopsy will be conducted in Savannah, Georgia.

Authorities has questioned more than 70 registered sex offenders/predators living within five square radius of Somer’s home.

Authorities are now working to pinpoint where the garbage load that contained the girl’s body came from. The garbage that was brought into that part of the landfill was brought in from the Orange Park area.

“There is a child killer on the loose,” the sheriff office stated. “I fear for our community until we bring this person in.”

There are rewards for information. $30,000 has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for Somer Thompson’s death.
