Senate Finance Committee Passes Health Care Bill for a long awaited $829 billion health care bill on Tuesday, October 13th, 2009, by a 14-9 vote.

Senate Finance Committee Passes Health Care Bill and it could not have been passed with out Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe, from Maine, who announced her support for a health care bill Tuesday, October 13th, 2009, before the committee vote.

Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, was the lone committee member to cross the party picket lines. All the committee’s Democrats supported the bill that is projected to extend coverage to an additional 29 million Americans, who really needed the bill to pass.
