Former judge, Herman Thomas is accused of offering male prisoners lenient sentences in exchange for sex and spankings.

Charges against Herman Thomas include sodomy, kidnapping and extortion. Pretty nasty, isn’t it Baby Boomers?

Herman Thomas was the Democratic party’s choice to be the first black federal judge in the south of the state before a series of lurid allegations were made against him. His lawyers say the charges are racially and politically motivated…but that isn’t what 15 male inmates of Alabama are saying.

Herman Thomas denies all charges and had resigned as a circuit judge in 2007 after being accused of bringing inmates into his office and slapping them with a wooden paddle. He was later charged with the more serious charges. If convicted of sodomy and kidnapping and extortion, he could face least 20 years in jail.

The up side…Then he could have all of the sex with men that he wants.

Thomas was first accused of offering inmates leniency in return for sex in 2001 but the case was dismissed.

The authorities began investigating Herman Thomas’ actions again in 2006, after he changed a jail sentence in 2006 for his cousin even though the case was being handled by another judge.

Judge Exchanges Sex For Leniency is not an idle threat, evidence is mounting against the ex-judge, as other cases that Thomas had taken over from other judges without their approval, began to surface.

Some inmates in those cases described being allowed out of prison for meetings with Thomas in his car or in his private office <wink-wink>. Then came allegations of spankings and sex.

His attorney, Robert Clark, describes the charges against Thomas as “a hi-tech lynching”. He added: “They don’t like uppity black folks, and that’s what they consider Herman.”

Well, that may be true in the state of Alabama. Hello, I live in the South and stuff still goes on here that is totally racist…but what people all over the U.S. don’t like is the abuse of power and corruption for sexual gain or profit.

The civil rights group the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, has also spoken in Thomas’ defence, claiming that race is behind the prosecution.

But Nicki Patterson, Alabama’s chief assistant district attorney, denies this claim. She states that “prison records backed up inmates’ claims about trips to Herman Thomas’ office, and that other inmates had witnessed marks on their cellmates’ buttocks after the alleged spankings. There is evidence of one inmate’s seminal fluid on the Herman Thomas’ office carpet, according to court papers.”

There are inmates who met with the then Judge Thomas and got lighter sentencing and those who are claiming that they did not go along with the program, got tougher sentences.

15 convicts word against an ex-Judges’ word.  We will see what happens at the trial. I am sure that it is going to be “Louisiana Hot,” in Alabama.
