Heavy Drinkers Are At Risk For 6 Cancers
A recent Montreal study by a group of epidemiologists and cancer researchers show that heavy drinkers of beer and liquors have significantly higher risks of developing a variety of cancers, than their counter parts, who do not drink heavily.
The study shows that people who drink the hardest, boost their chances of developing six different cancers:
Esophageal Cancer
Stomach Cancer
Colon Cancer
Liver Cancer
Pancreatic Cancer
Lung Cancer
Whereas, abstainers, light, and moderate drinkers and wine drinkers, were not affected.
What the researchers did, was compared the drinking habits of 3,064 Montreal men who developed 13 types of cancer with 507 Montreal men who were healthy.
The results were astounding, said biostatistician and study lead author Andrea Benedetti of McGill University.
According to Benedetti, the heavier the drinker, the greater the risk. The strongest risk was for liver cancer. Those risks increased 800 percent. Following liver cancer was esophageal cancer at 800 percent. Prostate and colon cancers increased by 80 percent, followed by lung cancer, by 50 percent.
Heavy Drinkers Are At Risk For 6 Cancers and the research team of Benedetti, Marie-Elise Parent of INRS-Institut Armand Frappier and Jack Siemiatycki of the Universite de Montreal, were very surprised with the association of alcohol with lung cancer.
The cancer link held up, even with controlling facts of age, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, diets and smoking.
In fact, the effect was the same, whether you smoked heavily or lightly, alcohol seems to have an independent effect on lung cancer.
If you are looking for the study results, they were published in the current issue of The Journal Cancer Detection and Prevention.
This Montreal study looked at cancer risks, the total amount of consumption, how many drinks per day…per their lifetime, as well as with specific beverages.
“It looks like the risks are driven by beer and liquor, but not wine,” Benedetti stated, “although it would not be fair to say wine drinkers are spared.”
“But perhaps wine contains antioxidants, or they fact that wine drinkers tend to have healthy lifestyles,” she continued.
The study adds to a growing body of evidence that Heavy Drinkers Are At Risk For 6 Cancers and is hazardous to one’s health.

They should die the sooner the better because they won’t have a chance to kill innocent people that have nothing to do with them and that is a fact.
I was married to heavy drinker long enough and couldn’t care less about anybody but himself and now he is paying for his past misdeeds and all of the ex’s in the world should pay as well. So I feel no pitty patty for any of them and that is another fact.
