UPDATE:2009 Hurricane Season-Hurricane Felicia Hawaii

Fortunately for Hawaii, Felicia has weakened to a tropical storm. This has occurred because of the strong upper level winds.

Much of shower and thunderstorm activity with Felicia, has become displaced to the east and north of the circulation center or the eye of the storm…

Felicia is located about 480 miles of east-northeast of Hilo, Hawaii. Maximum sustained winds near the center are 50 mph.

UPDATE:2009 Hurricane Season-Hurricane Felicia Hawaii and forecasters predict that Felicia will be a tropical depression as it moves through or near Hawaii on Monday, August 10th, 2009.

Thankfully, at this time, it appears that the impact of Felicia to Aloha State, will not be major.

Gusty winds can be expected in the higher elevations, along the coast and in the channels between islands.

Rainfall could be locally heavy resulting in localized flooding issues. Waves will rise on the east coast, peaking in the 10 to 15 foot range on Monday, making it great for surfing, for experienced surfers.

A tropical storm watch is in effect for islands of Hawaii, Maui, Kahoolawe, Lanai, and Molokai.

There is also a tropical depression called 9E that has formed in the eastern Pacific. It is southwest of Mexico and is no threat at this time to land.

UPDATE:2009 Hurricane Season-Hurricane Felicia Hawaii is going to be even less of a threat to Hawaii than first thought.
