Carl Pavano Acquired By Twins
Carl Pavano Acquired By Twins and they deepened their rotation today, acquiring Carl Pavano from the Indians for a player to be named later.
Carl Pavano, 33, has allowed 150 hits in 125.2 innings, posting a respectable 88K/23BB ratio.
His base salary is only $1.5MM, but in addition to the $500k remaining on his contract, Carl Pavano stands to earn a lot through incentives.
If he makes 10 more starts and averages 6.0 IP per outing, he’ll make another $1.75 in bonuses. Gee, I wish I could play ball.
Carl Pavano Acquired By Twins and yesterday there was a leak that the Indians expect to lose $16MM this year, but hopefully, they will receive some relief…if the Twins are paying the rest of Pavano’s contract.
OK, so here are the questions:
* Is this the single most important trade of the 2009 season?
* Did Pavano pass through waivers?
* Are Twins taking a shot on a player that is always injured?
* Does any one else smell desperation?
* Is he the answer for the Twins or do the Twins need a seasoned vet?
* Is he a solid enough pitcher for the Twins to pull through?
Carl Pavano Acquired By Twins, Was it a good move? Play ball…Baby Boomers…
