My American Health Care

My American Health Care. What do you do when you are not insurable and not able to go to a doctor? You wait until you can no longer stand your illness and then flee to the hospital and go in through the emergency room.

This is what I did. I have Lupus and this year I have been in the hospital three times.  I have some serious health issues as well as Lymphoma. I  should have gone to the hospital more…Once a month I should/could have gone to the emergency room. But I didn’t. I feel bad, because I owe them thousands and thousands of dollars in medical bills.

The nurses where I went were wonderful as well as the nurses aides and even those who were in housekeeping.

But my Doctor…I want to tell you about my doctor. She came around to see me on the sixth day. Asking me who my primary doctor was. Well, I don’t have one. Mostly it has been the heath care centers.

But, when I told the hospital doctor that I didn’t have one or insurance, she looked at me like I had a snake on my head. She actually took a step back from me and told me, “well, we will have you out of here tomorrow.”

I was scheduled for therapy the next day (I have trouble walking) and when I told her, she turned away and walked out of the room. Didn’t even say goodbye…there was nothing else to talk to me about.

I was in no shape to go home, nor was I well enough to.

What is wrong with My America Health Care? It is all about the money.I was in the hospital for 9 days that time and I saw three doctors for the total time of 23 minutes between all of them. You do the math…yet they have billed me thousands of dollars for their bills.

Here is a short trailer for Michael Moores’ trailer on SICKO. Some of you might not approve of his methods. But he does goes after the bad guys.

Michael Moores’ new documentary, “Sicko,” offers an interesting window into the crazy world of the American health care system.

Addressing rising costs of health care, questionable private interests and an increasingly large uninsured population (like me).

Moore points to several issues that plague our health care system.

My American Health Care is not what it should be. I have worked all of my life and am not be able to afford good health care. Lupus now prevents me from working, so I can not get health benefits, even if I was approved for them. I am an American Health Care Casualty. How many of you Baby Boomers, are in the same boat? Paddling upstream with out a paddle?
