Bernie Madoff Surprised No One Caught Him in Wall Street’s biggest investment fraud. In his first interview since entering prison, Madoff was surprised his $65 billion Ponzi scheme was not uncovered sooner.

Madoff, 71, Wall Streeter who drew 150 years’ prison time for the defrauding unsuspecting clients, expressed remorse and talked candidly to a pair of lawyers suing him on behalf of investors, according to news reports of their jailhouse meeting on Tuesday, July 28th, 2009.

San Francisco attorneys Joseph Cotchett and Nancy Fineman met with Madoff at the North Carolina prison where he was taken two weeks ago after pleading guilty.

Silence since his arrest, he is finally coming forward with apologies and remorse…who are you kidding? Not me or his investors.

“There were several times that I met with the SEC and thought ‘they got me,’” Madoff told Cotchett and Fineman. Did that stop him? NO!

The Securities and Exchange Commission is now conducting an in-depth review of how they missed the fraud, drawing intense criticism. The results of their investigation are expected to be released in weeks. Those involved in his previous investigations, should be fired.

Cotchett and Fineman representing about a dozen investors who lost money in Madoff’s decades long scheme. It was an unprecedented global scam for which Madoff eventually pleaded guilty to laundering, securities fraud and perjury.

“It was an extraordinary visit. He was very candid, very open, and answered every one of our questions,” Cotchett stated of the 4-1/2-hour meeting.

He was “very remorseful” but looked healthy and appeared to be working out, Cotchett told news outlets.

“I think he’s not too happy to be where he is but he’s certainly not complaining,” stated Cotchett, who set up the interview through Madoff’s attorneys.

The visiting attorneys said they planned to use what they learned at the meeting in a lawsuit to be filed this week in Manhattan against Madoff and his brother, Peter Madoff, who acted as chief compliance officer, and potentially officers at some of the feeder funds that worked with Madoff, according to the reports.

Yep, Bernie is taking the whole ship down with him…even his sons, Mark and Andrew Madoff . Everyone but Ruth, his wife. He says she is innocent. I say no-way-Jose.

This is the 21st century and Ruth Madoff wasn’t some 1900′s wife that was Sally homemaker.

Was she involved in his business, in the office? Unless she was blind and mentally challenged, she knew. Her sons were in the business and many of their friends and family members. They all knew what was going on but little Miss Ruth did not…do you believe that Baby Boomer?

I say…Take away her jewels and furs and give her a shopping cart to live on the streets of New York or lock her up with the rest of the people involved in this swindle.

Make her work in a soup kitchen, so that she sees what it is like to be homeless and penniless like some of her husbands investors…while she was living the high life in a NY penthouse.

I just bet that Bernie boy…made a plead deal to keep Ruth out of jail.

“Madoff said he believed securities investigators had found all the money that could have been recovered,” Cotchett continued.

“But it might be in many different venues, and by that I mean I don’t think that Bernie knows where all the money is, because some was paid out to feeder funds,” Cotchett stated.

According to ABC News, Madoff agreed to speak with Cotchett after the lawyer threatened to sue his wife, Ruth. There we have it…why Bernie is talking. Just to save Ruth.

“He cares about Ruth,” Cotchett said. Well, too bad he didn’t care about his investors. If he had cared about Ruth so much he would have never put her or his family and friends in this position. ALL of them are motivated by greed. Bernie was just the King Pen.

Madoff tells all…I don’t think so. All he did was give a dog a bone. A man with NO scruples does not become “I am so sorry” over night. A leopard doesn’t lose his spots, they just move around.
