Solar Eclipse 2009

simonevitale Solar Eclipse 2009

Solar Eclipse 2009 will be a total eclipse and also the longest in my lifetime…

The total eclipse will be Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009, with in a narrow corridor beginning in northern India and crossing eastern Nepal, northern Bangladesh, Bhutan, the northern tip of Myanmar and central China.

After leaving the Asian mainland, the path will cross Japan’s Ryukyu Islands and curve southeast over the Marshall Islands and Kiribati, where the maximum duration of totality will be 6 minutes, 39 seconds.

Not very long to see a total eclipse. But…this total eclipse of the sun, will last longer than any other total eclipse in almost 500 years. Those years being from 1814 to 2309. Pretty impressive, isn’t it?
