Oscar G. Mayer Jr Dies. On Monday, July 6th, 2009, Oscar G. Mayer Jr., former chairman of Oscar Mayer Foods died at the age of 95. He died of old age at Hospice Care in Fitchburg, Wisconsin.

Mayer’s father, Oscar G. Mayer Sr. died in 1965.
Mayer’s grandfather Oscar F. Mayer, died in 1955.
In 1977, Oscar G. Mayer Jr. retired as the chairman of the Oscar Mayer Foods company, just after it reached it’s first $1 billion year. Oscar Mayer Foods was then sold to General Foods, which then became a unit of Kraft Food.

For generations, children throughout the country knew how to spell this famous hot dog and bologna name…even before they could even write or spell their own.
