UPDATE:South Carolina Serial Killer Dead and authorities believe the serial killer blamed for five deaths in South Carolina died in a shootout with police in neighboring North Carolina on Monday, July6th, 2009.

UPDATE:South Carolina Serial Killer Is Dead and Burris was killed early Monday morning, July 6th, 2009, in Dallas, North Carolina.

Authorities got a call about a possible burglary in progress. A shoot out occurred, leaving one officer shot in the leg and Burris dead.

Investigators described Patrick Tracy Burris, as a “habitual felon” with a record in several states. Burris was on probation when he was killed. His rap sheet was 25 pages long which included a lengthy history of armed robberies, forgeries, break-ins and several other charges.
