It’s June 21, 1997  Steve McNair and his new bride Mechelle Cartwright of Vicksburg, Miss., take directions during a photo session after their wedding at Bowmar Avenue Baptist Church in Vicksburg, Miss.

Nashville police say former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was shot multiple times and that Sahel Kazemi 20 was found dead with him in a downtown condominium. She was shot once in the head. A pistol was found under her body.

Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron says McNair’s wife, Mechelle, is “very distraught” and that police do not believe she is involved.

Mechelle and Steve have 4 children together, 4 boys.
