Pit Bull Dog Drags California Woman In Front Of Train going 70 MPH at a crossing in Hayward, California, at about 2:15PM PDT, Thursday, June 4th, 2009.
The Fatal Accident took place just north of the Hayward Station near the intersection of West Blossom Way and Meekland Avenue.
A woman was struck and killed by a Capital Corridor train when her pit bull dog, Mama, tried to follow someone across the track and dragged her owner, Vida Silver, 31, with her.
Both Vida and her pet pit bull dog, Mama were killed instantly by Amtrak’s Capitol Corridor train No. 535. Both Vida and Mama were known and loved through out the neighborhood and the two were always inseparable.
Pit Bull Dog Drags California Woman In Front Of Train. “The crossing guards were down. The gentleman was able to make it through,” Alameda County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. J.D. Nelson explained. “She tried to stop, realizing she probably couldn’t make it and the dog dragged itself and her into the train.”
Amtrak’s Capitol Corridor train No. 535, bound for San Jose, was likely traveling at approximately 70 miles per hour when it struck and instantly killed both the woman and the dog, a pit bull.

This is a horrible story but I know that Pit Bulls are very strong animals and they when chasing someone has even more power than normal.
I just can’t figure out why didn’t just release her grip?
MAY GOD BLESS HER AND HER DOG NOW AND FOR ALL TIME BECAUSE THEY ARE BOTH ON HIS RIGHT SIDE WHERE THEY ARE SAFE AND WARM FOR ALL TIME!!!
She had the lease wrapped around her wrist and she couldn’t get it off her wrist fast enough when the lease was taunt.
That really is just so tragic
