Swine Flu UPDATE:Chicago Illinois Woman Dies From Swine Flu-H1N1 and this death is the second Illinois resident from the Chicago area that has died from the swine flu, according to the Illinois Health Department.

Cook County Health Department stated that, “The woman who died was a resident of northwest suburban Cook County and she had “other significant medical conditions that increased vulnerability” to the H1N1 swine flu virus.”

Because of confidentiality and “out of respect for the family,” the health department stated it will not be releasing details about the case.

The first death of swine flu in Illinois was reported on Monday. That case was also in the Chicago area. This person also had underlying medical conditions that put them at greater risk for the virus to become deadly.

Illinois reports that 976 confirmed swine flu cases. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has tracked 7,927 confirmed cases in the United States, including 11 deaths.

That total does not include the last two deaths from Illinois.
