Brothels and bordellos world wide are feeling the stink of a lowering economy. Perhaps this is a gauge some of us would not consider but the lowering economy is affecting all business. As the recession continues to bite, sex workers are feeling the crunch. It seems sex is one among some of the first businesses affected.
“People just don’t spend that freely anymore,” says Anke Christiansen, co-founder of Hamburg’s Geizhaus (“Das Original Discount Bordell”), where visitor numbers have dropped up to 20% since the crisis began. “Customers who used to come to us two or three times a week now limit themselves to once a week.”
Sex establishments outside of large cities are closing their doors. Even Americas’ famous “Mustang Ranch” in Reno, Nevada has recently laid off 30% of its staff after its big sending clients started staying away.
There is also the possibility that men just do not have the same drive when faced with financial ruin or financial difficulties.
