Rare Male White Tiger Mauls and Kills A Zoo Keeper In New Zealand
A horrible act to witness, a Rare Male White Tiger Mauls and Kills A Zoo Keeper In New Zealand at a wildlife park Wednesday, May 27, 2009, while a group of eight tourists, including a child, that were on a guided tour of the park witnessed this absolutely horrible event.
Other zookeepers at Zion Wildlife Gardens in New Zealand, tried to pull the tiger off the injured zookeeper but they could not could save the attacked staff member and so they had to put the tiger down.
This horrific event took place at the Zion Wildlife Gardens near Whangarei, which is about three hours north of Auckland. The Zion Wildlife Gardens has been documented in the past for animals at the park being kept in crowded, unsanitary conditions and there was another attack by a white tiger, that took place in February of 2009. Was it an accident looking for a place to happen?
“Two zookeepers had gone in to clean an enclosure at the park, when one of two white tigers inside lunged at a keeper,” stated Sarah Kennett, spokeswoman for Northland Police.
“The second keeper and other zoo staff tried to pull the tiger off the man but failed. He died shortly after,” Kennett continued.

Brilliant—-kill a wild animal for functioning as it’s supposed to in it’s enviroment. They are wild animals and that should be considered first. I’m so sick of these animals being placed into captivity and then euthanized when they attack or go crazy. What does everyone expect??? There’s always a risk to doing a job such as a zookeeper and in my opinion if someone chooses this profession and something like this happens then sorry to say but they knew it was always a possibility………
Everybody seems to forget that these animals are wild and you never know when they might attact anybody at anytime.
This is another story that makes very ill because an innocent animal loses his life because man gets involved with them in way they shouldn’t this is not the animal’s fault this is man’t fault but look who lost their live an innocent beautiful animal.
