I have a bad feeling about this but we will see what happens down the road.

  2. Patty R. says:

Actually, Sotomayor isn’t a Boomer, but rather a member of Generation Jones, born 1954-1965, between the Boomers and Generation X. Google Generation Jones, and you’ll see it’s gotten a ton of media attention, and many top commentators from many top publications and networks (Washington Post, Time magazine, NBC, Newsweek, ABC, etc.) now specifically use this term.

It is important to distinguish between the post-WWII demographic boom in births vs. the cultural generations born during that era. Generations are a function of the common formative experiences of its members, not the fertility rates of its parents. Many experts now believe it breaks down this way:

    DEMOGRAPHIC boom in babies: 1946-1964
    Baby Boom GENERATION: 1942-1953
    Generation Jones: 1954-1965
    Generation X: 1966-1978

  3. Hello Patty,

Welcome to BBAC and thanks for the great comment…

Sonia Sotomayer is a Baby Boomer. Born
    June 25, 1954 (1954-06-25) (age 54)
    The Bronx, New York

The new names that divide baby Boomers into other categories are just just new names for Baby Boomers…that want/need to be put in other categories. I remember when they started and who started them…

Happy Belated Birthday Sonia…you are a Baby Boomer

We hope to see you again and soon, Patty.

    Southern smiles and world peace,
    Sharon
