New Report Shows-Baby Boomers Have Immunity To Swine Flu or H1N1. Finally we get a break. People born before 1957 appear to have some immunity to H1N1, the swine flu virus, federal health officials state.
According to Dr. Daniel Jernigan, chief flu epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, tests on blood serum from people at least 52 years old show they had antibodies that attacked the new virus.
Baby Boomers, do not let your guard down because this new report does not mean that all people born before 1957 is immune. However, this is a trend American and Mexican doctors have noticed.
It does point out…that the new swine flu or H1N1, infects and hospitalizes many more young people than regular seasonal flu outbreaks. Those outbreaks tend to sicken and kill the very old and the medically impaired.
New Report Shows-Baby Boomers Have Immunity To Swine Flu or H1N1 and as Dr. Jernigan states that “only 13 percent of the 247 people hospitalized because of the swine flu are over 50 years old. Many of those did have other medical problems. However, in a typical flu season, more than 90 percent of those hospitalized for the flu, are older than 50.”
So far, there have been eight deaths in the United States from the H1N1 virus.
