In Wichita, Kansas, Craiglist Rapist Of Prostitutes Gets 29 Years In Prison but is he really remorseful or still living in a fantasy world?

The media-called Craigslist Rapist, David Gage, learned his fate Thursday, May 21st, 2009, in a Sedgwick County courtroom. He will spend 29 years behind bars for raping women he met using the popular web site. Craigslist.

The former law enforcement officer, David Gage portrayed himself as somewhat of a victim for getting involved with prostitution and had little to say about his sentencing

“I should have never taken matters into my own hands in pursuing this underworld activity of prostitution, of which I also became a victim of,” stated Gage during his sentencing.

Gage showed small remorse toward his victims. even though some where present for the sentencing.

“I apologize for dragging these women into a situation that they themselves exposed themselves to,” he blabbered. “I have to apologize for that.”

Gage met his three victims, who admittedly stated they were prostitutes, on the ‘erotic services’ section of Craigslist.

As a result of this case and others, the site has agreed to take the section off their list on the personal section.

Craiglist Rapist Of Prostitutes Gets 29 Years In Prison and although Judge Greg Waller states Craigslist had obviously not been used properly, in this case he sternly told Gage, “That does not give you any authority or right to pray upon prostitutes.”

Authorities say that Gage’s MO was to rape his victims by posing as a U.S. Marshal and displaying both a gun and handcuffs.

Though Gage seemed not to care about his crimes or the rape victims, Gage broke down like a big cry baby, when it came to his family.

“It’s a tough deal to lay the things that I’ve laid at my own feet much less my family’s feet,” Gage stated.

Judge Waller’s retoute was telling Gage “he should have thought of his loved ones before committing his crimes.”

David Gage is not a first time offender. He has been in trouble with the law for a similar offense. In 1998 he was arrested for posing as a police officer and attempting to arrest what turned out to be an under cover officer during a prostitution sting. Perhaps it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks?
