Hospital Fined $250K For Breach of OctoMoms-Nadya Suleman’s Privacy…The same hospital where a California woman, Nadya Suleman, AKA OctoMom, gave birth to octuplets in January, 2009. The hospital has been fined $250,000 by the state of California because nearly two dozen medical workers, including doctors, have illegally viewed her medical records, according to state health officials.
For those of you not in the Northern Hemisphere, Nadya Suleman was the subject of great controversy after giving birth to octuplets in January of 2009.
Kaiser Permanente’s Bellflower Hospital is where Nadya Suleman’s last eight babies were born. Kaiser Permanente’s Bellflower revealed in March 2009, that 15 employees lost their jobs and eight others were disciplined for improperly accessing Nadya Sulemans’ computerized medical records.
Hospital Fined $250K For Breach of OctoMoms-Nadya Suleman’s Privacy even though there was no evidence that information from the medical files was leaked to the news media, which has intensely covered the OctoTots and OctoMoms’ story, according to Kathleen Billingsley, deputy director of the California Public Health Department’s Center for Health Care Quality.
Six of the privacy breaches happened at other Kaiser Permanente facilities, which are linked into the same computer system housing her medical records.
OctoMom-Nadya Suleman, who was already a single mother with six children, gave birth to octuplets. She conceived them with the help of vitro fertilization. This only fueled controversy. News of her collecting public assistance for some, any or all of her children outraged many taxpayers, nationwide.
Nadya Suleman now lives in La Habra, Southern California with her 14 children.
