Wanted Georgia Professor George Zinkhan Committed Suicide, in fact he dug his own shallow grave, covered it with brush and shot his self once in the head. There was no other party involved. Just his own demise.
Police verified that University of Georgia professor killed himself with a single gunshot to the head after he dug his own grave and covered it with brush.
George Zinkhan, 57, a professor at the University of Georgia, disappeared after the slayings of his wife and two others and was found days later, in an area by his abandoned jeep. He was found dead, in a shallow grave.
According to the Athens police, Zinkhan’s body was found in a small dugout area in the ground, covered with leaves and debris, and it was apparent that he took significant steps to try to conceal his body from being located.
Wanted Georgia Professor George Zinkhan Committed Suicide, authorities determined that Zinkhan committed suicide after killing his wife, Marie Bruce, 47, Thomas Tanner, 40, and Ben Teague, 63, outside a theater in Athens, Georgia, on April 25th, 2009. All three victims were associated with the Town and Gown Players theater group, which was holding a reunion picnic, when George Zinkhan went on killing spree, with his children waiting in his jeep.
Athens Police did not give any motive for the slayings but stated in a statement that Zinkhan and his wife were having marital problems. Zinkhan targeted Tanner and shot him first.
Authorities stated that Zinkhan arrived while the Town and Gown event was under way and got into a disagreement with Bruce Tanner. Police believe he left, went to his car, where the couple’s children apparently were waiting, then returned with two handguns. Killing three and injuring two.
After the shootings, Zinkhan, drove to his hometown, Bogart, Georgia, and left his two children with a neighbor.
