Cancer Protection-Does A Vegetarian Diet Help Protect Against Cancer? According to a new study, a vegetarian diet may help to protect against cancer.

The study was done by the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition-Oxford, in the United Kingdom. It involved an analysis of data from 63,550 men and women. The study showed that those who did not eat meat had significantly fewer cancers, overall.

However, amongst the vegetarians, the research also found a higher rate of colorectal cancer, which is a disease often linked with eating red meat.

The research was done by dividing the study participants into groups of meat-eaters, fish-eaters, vegetarians and vegans.

There was a significantly lower incidence of all cancers among the fish-eaters and vegetarians when compared with the meat eaters. For colorectal cancer, however, that trend was reversed.
