8 Dead and 6 Wounded At Nursing Home Shooting Rampage In Carthage North Carolina. Carthage is a sleepy little town, that is close knit, your all American small, Norman Rockwell town, about 60 miles southwest of Raleigh, NC. Yet crime and violence has hit this community when seven patients and a nurse were killed during a Sunday morning shooting at a Carthage, North Carolina, nursing home.
The shooting incident happened around 10 a.m. Sunday, March 29th, 2009, at the Pine Lake Health and Rehab Center in Carthage, North Carolina.
The man accused of carrying out the attack, Robert Stewart, 45, was shot by a police officer, and his condition “is currently unknown,” Carthage Police Chief Chris McKenzie said. The police officer was shot in the leg and was treated and released at a local hospital.
Moore County District, Attorney Maureen Krueger, stated that, “The slain patients ranged in age from 78 to 98. The suspect, Robert Stewart, faces eight counts of murder and one count of felony assault on a police officer.”
Stewart was not an employee of the nursing home and rehabilition center nor he did not appear to have been related to any of the patients. So, the authorities think that there is still more to be uncovered as far as his purpose in being there.
“I ain’t never seen nobody being mistreated down there or nothing,” Bobby Dunn, whose 89-year-old mother was living at the facility, told CNN affiliate News 14 Carolina. “That’s what I can’t understand, why somebody would come and do something like that.”
Sunday’s killings were just one of the latest in a series of high profile and apparently unrelated rampages in March, including the killings of 10 people…by an Alabama man (who was then killed by police). In a Illinois church, a man shot and killed the pastor and stabbed two parishioners. Then to top it all off, a 17 year old in Germany killed 15 people in two small towns before dying in a shootout with authorities. It is diffinatlyt March Madness.

This just shows you how something that should be personal spills over to the public and it should never ever happen but it does more often than not and that is a fact.
To me there should be more security at these homes because of the chances of such things happening and that is the way it is but really sad.
I worked in two (2) such places and there is no security at all and that is dangerous as all of us can see now but all of this will hopefully chance now that this horrible thing happened to innocent people.

this is wrong why would a sick guy like him harm ppl that cant do anything wrong this guy needs to suffer like them people did!!!
