Anna Nicole Smith’s Personal Friend and Attorney Howard Stern and Doctor Jailed

Authorities charge Anna Nicole Smith’s Personal Friend and Attorney Howard Stern and Doctor Jailed Thursday on charges of conspiring to furnish drugs before Anna’s death in February of 2007. Anna Nicole Smith’s boyfriend Howard K. Stern was among those charged Thursday, in the wrongful death of Anna Nichole.

Howard Stern and Dr. Sandeep Kapoor were arrested and later released from a Los Angeles County jail Thursday night after each posted a $20,000 bond. Also charged in the death of Anna Nicole is Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, she is expected to turn herself in Monday, according to the authorities.

Where did they go wrong? The doctors and Stern devised a plan to use fake names so that Smith could be prescribed “thousands of pills,” California Attorney General Jerry Brown said. “She was obviously addicted,” and these doctors had a medical obligation to prescribe medicine in a professional way. Evidence and prosecution will show this did not happen.”

For those of you who have forgotten or do not know, Anna Nicole Smith, 39, was pronounced dead February 8Th, 2007, after being found unconscious in her hotel room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino near Hollywood, Florida.

The former Playboy Playmate and reality TV star died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. At the time of her death, several prescription medications, both with Anna Nicole Smith and Howard Stern’s names, were found in the room.

Anna’s autopsy showed prescription and over-the-counter drugs were found in hers system, including three antidepressants or anti-anxiety drugs. Also found in toxicology results were human growth hormones and chloral hydrate, a sleep medication.

Howard Stern, 40, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, 40, and  Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, 61, were each charged with eight felonies, including conspiring to furnish controlled substances, unlawfully prescribing a controlled substance and obtaining fraudulent prescriptions from June 2004 to January 2007.

Dr. Kapoor and Dr. Eroshevich were each also charged with obtaining a prescription for opiates by “fraud, deceit or misrepresentation.” Each was also charged with one count of obtaining a prescription for opiates by giving a false name or address, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Anna Smith was buried in the Bahamas on March 2, 2007, next to the grave of her son, Daniel, who died in September, days after the birth of her daughter, Dannielynn. After Anna’s death, there was a large issue and lawsuit as who was the father of Anna’s daughter, Dannielynn. Howard K. Stern’s DNA did not match, he was not her natural father. Larry Birkhead is little Dannielynn’s natural father and has custody of her.
