London Area Eatery The Fat Duck-Poisons Over 400 People

A Berkshire London Eatery The Fat Duck-Poisons Over 400 People that may have gotten sick after eating at a renowned Michelin-starred restaurant in England, the health department stated Friday.
The Owner, Heston Blumenthal opened The Fat Duck in 1995, and it received three Michelin stars in 2004.
None the less…The Health Protection Agency is investigating an outbreak of diarrhea and vomiting among diners who ate at The Fat Duck restaurant in Berkshire, Village of Bray, west of London.
The HPA said the number of cases reported at top chef Heston Blumenthal’s eatery had grown after media coverage of the outbreak. Some have reported having fallen ill as early as late January. Others, say the the problem initially surfaced at the end of February, it was reported that between 30 and 40 people had complained of illness, including diarrhea and vomiting, over a two to three week period.
Investigators from the HPA still don’t know the source of the outbreak and they are still examining foodstuffs, food storage, and preparation and cooking practices in addition to samples from sickened diners and all members of staff.
The Fat Duck has voluntarily closed last week after a number of people reported being ill soon after eating there. The number of ill, jumped to around 400 possible cases on Thursday after it started investigating cases going back to late January.
The Fat Duck was renowned for such eccentric items as snail porridge, salmon poached in licorice gel, and scrambled egg and bacon ice cream. That cuisine is so high in demand that diners must book at least two months in advance. The restaurant charges £130 ($185) for the tasting menu and £98 ($140) for a la carte.
Blumenthal opened The Fat Duck in 1995, and it received three Michelin stars in 2004. A year later, the restaurant was proclaimed the best in the world by the “50 Best” Academy of food critics, journalists, and chefs. I do not think that they will be getting any awards this year, nor will they be booked two months in advance…
Blumenthal has had several TV food shows in Britain. His latest is the current “Heston’s Feasts,” in which he recreates historical recipes from ancient Rome to Victorian Britain.
I suspect that the “Heston Feasts” will not be previewing…“London Area Eatery The Fat Duck-Poisons Over 400 People.”

These kind of things seem to happen all over the world and that seems to be a fact of life.
I think The Fat Duck is not going to be for everyone. If you go with an open mind you wil enjoy a very special experience. You won’t get fries and burgers here, but you will get something very exceptional. The recent incident does not make things easier, but in a bit of time the incident will be just a thing of the past.
You cannot put a real price on something like this but £500 for 2 with a good wine id realistic. You don’t go on holiday and count the pennies, nor should you at The Fat Duck.It might not be the best in the world but still is sometning very, very special.
